6TH ANNUAL TOY DRIVE ANNOUNCMENT

Our annual toy drive for the Christmas Angel Tree kids (through the Salvation Army) will be starting in November. However, for those who want to use their Thrivent Action Teams to help our drive, now is the time to start applying for your cards. The earlier we get the cards, the earlier we can start shopping! If you need help applying, please contact your Thrivent representative or call Sherri Smith (367-6992). A huge thank you to everyone who has used their action teams in the past years for this great cause!

LUTHERAN EARLY RESPONSE TEAM (LERT) TRAINING

In Volume 31 of Luther’s Works (Career of the Reformer I) in defining the Christian, Luther states “In faith they ascend above themselves to God and in love they descend beneath themselves to the neighbor.  The Christian always lives outside themselves—they live in God and in their neighbor.  If they live inside themselves, they are not Christian.”  Lutheran Theologian and former LCMS president, Jacob A.O. Preus, summarized this statement by saying Christians are “inside-out” people.  Love seeks and serves the neighbor in times of crisis.  This is the purpose of the Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT)—to serve the suffering neighbor.  If you have the heart to serve the suffering when disaster strikes, Trinity Lutheran Church, Atchison KS will host a Basic LERT Training on December 6, 2025 from 10:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M in the church basement.  Those participating will obtain a foundation of how to provide Christian care in a disaster environment.  The cost of the training is $35 which will cover the instructional material, a LERT T-Shirt, and LERT Credentials.  Lunch will be provided.   Registration for the training must be completed by November 22 at www.lcms-lert.org. Those interested contact Jason Burgess at 580-658-0994 or email at burgess2006harley@yahoo.com

SCHOOL SPONSORS

We are just one shy of meeting our halfway goal! Will you prayerfully consider becoming a sponsor to help one of our Trinity School students with tuition? The suggested gift is $200.00, but any amount is welcomed. We are looking for 40 sponsors this year and have 19! Simply mark your gift, “School Sponsor Plan.”

PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Perhaps you would consider giving a note of thanks and encouragement or finding a special way to show your appreciation for our wonderful Pastors.  We are so blessed!

BED SHEETS OF ANY SIZE NEEDED FOR QUILTS

Each year our quilting ladies make between 200 and 300 quilts that are donated to Orphan Grain Train, Kaden’s Closet, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Bed sheets of any size are needed for these quilts. Please bring the sheets to the church or to any of the quilters.
Q’s: Call Monica Donaldson at 913-426-1671.

MOWERS NEEDED

We need a couple individuals willing to help with mowing the church/school property. You can mow on the day/time that works best for your schedule. The lawn mower is provided. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity. If interested, contact Terry Hanshaw at 913.360.0765.

OCTOBER OCC NEEDS

We have some of everything, but not enough of several things!   If you can donate, we could use more little toys, sidewalk chalk, games, puzzles, jump ropes, hair accessories, play jewelry, markers, coloring books, erasers, and hygiene items like washcloths, clippers, files, combs/brushes. Thank you for your donation!

OCTOBER FOOD PANTRY NEEDS

This month we are suggesting: complete pancake mix, syrup, tuna, Tuna Helper, and canned green beans for our Food Pantry. The need is GREAT! (Please, no expired or near expired food.) Questions see Terry Mills.
