OOUR FATHER’S BUSINESS: October 4 - 10 

WELCOME

IN THE NARTHEX 

This week you will find the October calendar, order forms for the Priscilla Guild Nut Fundraiser, and the new Portals of Prayer devotionals.  

PRISCILLA GUILD FUNDRAISER 

Priscilla Guild is holding their annual Nut Sale fundraiser. You’ll  

find an order form in the narthex. You may either give your form and money to a member of Priscilla Guild, place it in the offering plate, or bring it to the church office before Oct. 18th. Thank you for your support!  

LIFE CHAIN 2026 

All are invited to join thousands across America today standing against abortion in a peaceful, prayerful demonstration  from 2:00-3:00 PM at 10th & Skyway in Atchison. Signs will be provided. 

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS 

Marcene Selberg will be available after both morning services today, in the mother’s room, to assist those who need their blood pressure checked.  

HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE STUDY 

High School Bible Study will meet today at Adam & Rachel Goodpasture’s home, 12-1:30 PM. Pizza and dessert will be served. Please note the time change.  

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH CONFERENCE 

Confirmed (and will be confirmed in May) students are encouraged to consider going to the annual conference called Higher Things. This year the conference is June 22-25 in Mequon, Wisconsin.  Please check out their website, higherthings.org, for details. Contact Melissa Blanton or Lori Leonardi if you are interested. A non-refundable deposit will be needed in October.  

PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH 

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Perhaps the greatest forms of encouragement come from the very people God has called them to serve. Would you consider giving a note of thanks and encouragement or finding a special way to show your appreciation for our wonderful Pastors?  We are so blessed! 

STEAK FRY 

All Ushers and Elders are encouraged to RSVP for the Oct. 22 annual Steak Fry by filling out the form in your bulletin before Oct. 12.  

LWML FALL EVENT  

Ladies, you are invited to First Lutheran, Sabetha for the NE Zone LWML Fall Gathering this Saturday, Oct. 10. Registration begins at 9 AM at 311 Cedar Street. Plan to attend. Meet in the school parking lot at 8 AM if you’d like to share a ride.  The ingathering is full-size shampoo, body wash, or deodorant for “Kids Kloset.” 

BLOOD DRIVE 

Our next Blood Drive will be on Monday, October 26, 1:00-5:00 PM. Marcene Selberg will be available in the Mother’s Room after both morning services to help you sign up, or you can visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to make an appointment. 

REFORMATION WALK  

Come take a walk with Martin Luther on Oct. 31st, 9:00-Noon. See places he would frequent as a child and adult.  A map will lead you around (the gym) to learn more about Martin Luther and the Reformation! Each place will  have an activity and treat!  All ages are welcome! Helpers are needed to be at each stop to hand out stickers for the maps and give directions if needed.  Please let Jill Lowe know (913.426.5810) if you can help with this fun family activity to celebrate the Reformation!  

GAME NIGHT 

We’re hosting a game night, and you’re invited! We’re focusing on adult games (think party games, strategy games and well-known card games), but feel free to bring the kids along—we’ll have space and activities to keep them entertained. We'll serve bbq chicken sandwiches and drinks. Please bring a side to share! 

When: October 16th 
Time: Doors open at 5pm but feel free to come when you can.  

Where: Fellowship Hall (church basement)

TEXAS ROADHOUSE UPDATE 

THANK YOU, to everyone who ate at Texas Roadhouse on Sept. 23 and mentioned TRINITY.  They are sending us a check for $360.93 for our Teachers Convention in Nebraska.  

OCTOBER OCC NEEDS 

We still need toys, toys, toys! Cars, trucks, dolls, balls, puzzles, games or anything fun for a child to play with! We could use some more hygiene items like comb/brushes and washcloths, and we can always use more accessories like sunglasses, hair bands, barrettes, and jewelry. Thank you for all your donations! 

OCTOBER FOOD PANTRY NEEDS 

Our pantry has great need for the following items:  complete pancake mix, syrup, peanut butter, jelly, canned peas and carrots, pasta (only spaghetti or elbow macaroni), spaghetti sauce, Tuna Helper, Ramen noodles, and canned fruit (only peaches, fruit cocktail, pears, mandarin oranges, applesauce, and pineapple).Thank you for your generous donation! 

THRIVENT ACTION TEAMS/CHOICE DOLLARS 

Thrivent Action Team Cards are available. Action Teams can be used for any type of community service project, fundraiser, or educational event. All Choice Dollars are now available in full on January 1 and may be directed anytime through December 31. Contact your Thrivent representative if you need help applying. 

SEEKING PARISH NURSE 

The Social Ministries Committee is looking for a caring, motivated professional to serve as the TLC Parish Nurse. The principal function is to support and promote Christ-centered health and wellness of body, mind, and spirit through congregational health ministry of the LCMS.  

Qualifications to serve as a Parish Nurse include: 

- Registered nurse in the state of Kansas 

- A spiritually mature member of the congregation he/she is serving 

- Ability to work as a team member with the committee, pastors,   and staff 

- Management and supervisory skills, experience as an educator 

As a parish nurse, in coordination with the committee, you have the flexibility to tailor your duties to fit the specific needs of TLC. Current activities include organizing blood drives, providing blood pressure checks, and maintaining Trinity’s automated external defibrillators.  

You would also be expected to complete a course offered by the LCMS Parish Nurse Council for RNs wishing to become parish nurses. If you have questions or are interested, please contact Eric Berry at 913-426-1808, or email rederagon@hotmail.com. 

SCHOOL SPONSORS NEEDED 

Will you prayerfully consider becoming a sponsor to help one of our Trinity School students with tuition? The suggested gift is $200.00, but any amount is welcomed. Perhaps consider teaming up with another individual or giving as a Bible Class. We are looking for 40 sponsors this year and currently have two. Simply mark your gift, “School Sponsor Plan.” 

ATCHISON COMMUNITY CHILDREN’S CHOIR 

Do you know a child in 4th – 8th Grade that loves to sing? Encourage them to join the Atchison Community Children’s Choir. No auditions are required. The first rehearsal will be Tuesday, October 6, from 5:30 – 7:00p at the United Methodist Church, 501 Kansas Ave. Zac Clemens is serving as the Director.
